Lately, I seem to be going through products like there’s no bloody tomorrow. I have 3 drawers filled with skincare and body care, extra makeup bits like palettes, and haircare, and have made it my mission to start actually finishing stuff (while ya know, still buying bits..). I also boxed up some stuff for Give and Makeup, as the amount I had stashed in my bedroom was just unnecessary.
I do enjoy reading and writing this kind of post as you get a full review, and also just get to be dead nosy really. My pile of empties is almost long enough for another post now so I should probably get cracking with this one.
Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream in ‘Light Beige’
I also finished a tube in the shade ‘Ivory’, but must have got rid of the bottle. I proper love this stuff and wear it when I’m at work or during the day when I fancy a little somethin-somethin but don’t wanna slap on a heavier base. It’s pretty good coverage for a CC cream yet still light and looks lovely and fresh on the skin.
The shade range has much to be desired – there are 4 on the Boots website, which the Bourjois one actually links you to. 4. If you have darker skin or a deeper skin tone than the shade ‘Bronze’, you have no choice but to look elsewhere. I often mix ‘Ivory’, which is pink-toned, and ‘Light Beige’, which is more neutral/yellowy, to get my desired shade, which isn’t ideal. But I’ve repurchased loads as I love the formula. Bourjois though – get it together and add more shades so that more people can enjoy this. Mmmmkay?
Clarins Instant Concealer in 01
Another one with only 4 shades. Clarins, you know I love you but come on. If you do fall into the shades 01, 02, 03, and 04, this is a beautiful concealer. It’s a really good all-rounder – hydrating enough to use under the eyes but packs a punch on redness and spots too. A couple of drops and you could use it all over, like I did on some days. I am gonna repurchase this cause it was just awesome.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealers in 15 and 20
More base-related stuff, my bad! I just like concealer. After Black Friday I’m finding different shade ranges cause I’m guessing many are out of stock, but I think there’s 6 to choose from. I loved this concealer too, mostly for under the eyes and redness as I tend to save the Clarins and Collection Lasting Perfection for spots. It feels light yet gives a nice amount of coverage, nothing too intense though. Definitely need to pick up some more.
Apparently this is not a setting spray, much to my confusion, so I’m not sure if I can really give this a fair review haha. It does have ‘fix’ in the name after all..
I’ve read that it’s a finishing spray, which takes away the cakiness if you’ve gone a bit overboard with powder. I didn’t mind it for this but didn’t really enjoy the smell and lusted after those limited edition ones they brought out a while back, particularly the coconut. I haven’t rushed to repurchase this, but probably will as I didn’t use it to intensify eyeshadow properly, which apparently it works great for.
Clarins Lip Comfort Oil in Honey
I’m on my second tube of this now! This is just stunning. I love coming home at the end of a long day and just slathering this all over my lips. Don’t be put off by the word ‘oil’, as it doesn’t feel uncomfortable on the lips at all. The smell is also soooooo good.
Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion
This was fab – I loved using this and Lush’s Dream Cream together and flitting between the two. It worked beautifully on my dry, ezcema-prone skin and left it really soft and smooth. There’s no scent so it isn’t the most exciting bodycare to use, but it does the job.
La Roche-Posay Serozinc Spray
Aimed at oily, blemish-prone skin, I enjoyed this as my ‘spray-step’ after cleansing. The mist is lovely and fine and was great for my greasier days.
Clinique ‘All About Eyes’ Eye Cream
I think this was the first eye cream I ever tried, and I still think it’s da best. I haven’t got one to hand now as I decided to purchase the full size of the Benefit eye cream I tried, but I still wouldn’t hesitate to buy the Clinique again. It’s light yet still creamy and smooth under the eyes and keeps them nice and moisturised. I recently turned 25 and after using two pots I can’t really comment on its effects on lines or anything, but it does what I want it to, which is hydrate.
Vichy Dermablend Corrective Stick
Another concealer.. last one I promise. This stuff is seriously heavy-duty. I bought it to cover spots but it was too heavy for me and even felt a little greasy too. With mineral oil, wax, and talc in (haven’t worked out if talc irritates my skin or not yet) it’s probably not the best for spots anyway I should imagine. I’m still learning about what ingredients work for me and am stricter skincare-wise these days, but never think to check the ingredients in makeup.
Superdrug Vitamin E Toning Mist
I’ve gone through 2 bottles of this now and just love it. It’s simple skincare and I do find it nice and hydrating. It doesn’t irritate me and I love the smell, and do look forward to using it.
Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo (The Delicate Soother)
I’ve mentioned this a few times on my blog now (and the conditioner too) and just love this duo. I have an annoying itchy scalp and have nowhere as much trouble when I use this. Cheap and cheerful and always handy to have when my scalp is playing up.
